
“Summer is coming! Get your summer body together!”
We say, and hear this every year. We all make the 1st/2nd quarter pact to get our shit in order, and give summer the best body we have. We go HARD in the gym, we workout 7 days a week, sometimes twice in a day. And not to knock this method if it gets you to your goals, but a lot of women work themselves extremely HARD, and still aren’t at their goal. How could this be? How can I work this hard, and STILL have work to do? Every woman wants to love their reflection in the mirror, so let’s move from working extremely hard to working SMART 😎🤟🏾
To answer this simply, in my opinion, working out isn’t the only puzzle piece. Exercising has to be supplemented with other things, and today that other thing is PROPER NUTRITION (you can’t have one without the other). Everything you put on your fork is either helping or harming you reaching your goals. And let me say this, I’m a HUGE proponent of eating what you want, but this cannot be the standard in which you eat. Primarily, in my opinion, you should be eating for your wellness, and your goals. This looks like eating nutrients dense foods, and limiting/eliminating foods that don’t work for you. For example, I LOVE bread, but bread doesn’t love me, so I have it sparingly (only when I got to CFA for real 😭). If you couple proper nutrition, and exercise, you don’t have to push your body far beyond its limits in the gym 💪🏾🔥
So let’s go over a few nutrition pointers to help you achieve your goals in a SMARTER way:
You. Cannot. Outwork. Bad. Food. Choices. So many of us eat terribly, then try to fix it in the gym. You’re hustling backwards 🍟🍕🍔
Not eating will NOT get you to your goal. You have to eat to lose/develop muscle/gain 🍴🥣🍽
Carbs are not your enemy, they’re actually a game changer. You just need to know which ones to eat, and when to eat them 🍠🧇🥞
Protein! Weight-loss and muscle development NEED protein. Eat protein with every meal 🥩 🍗🍖
Keep it SIMPLE. Focus on macros, and build your plate accordingly (protein, carbs, fat) 🥩🍠🥜
Whole Foods > processed foods 🥦🥬🫐🥑
Plan your meals, then grocery shop. Keeps you from buying things you don’t need 📝
Pick prep days and stick to them 👩🍳
Don’t let your tastebuds make all of your decisions. Be disciplined, and do what needs to be done 🤝🏾🤞🏾🫡
Don’t drive yourself too crazy. If you crave something, have it, then get back on track 🍰🧁🍫

The body you want deserves more than the summer. It deserves a lifetime. Whatever is in your way, move it. The additional tools you need, get them. The new behaviors required, master them. It’s May 1st, and time to LIVE and BE in your best body. PERIOD.
